The Chairman of a large international media company employed QCC Interscan to carry out counter surveillance inspections of the chairman’s transport fleet. This included inspections of two executive cars, a large yacht moored in the south of France and a 12 seat executive jet housed at a commercial business airport in the UK.
The inspection of the yacht uncovered an historic eavesdropping attack within the main stateroom of the vessel.
The discovered self contained surveillance device had corroded batteries and could have been in place for up to 2 years. Solid state recording technology had been used to record conversations taking place within this confidential area and recordings were time and date stamped to 5 months previous. The eavesdropping device had never been retrieved or downloaded, however we could not say if or how many times the recorder had been used previously.
Conducting inspections of the other vehicles identified some physical security issues and issues regarding usage of the executive jet. Through consultation with the client QCC Interscan upgraded the security procedures in relation to the storage and preparation of the executive jet. QCC Interscan was also able to produce a plan for the executive’s use of the company jet to ensure business continuity in the event of incidents.
In addition a possible vulnerability was identified with the Bluetooth wireless telephone connection in one of the executive limousines inspected. This vulnerability was corrected by simple reprogramming of the system and installed handsets.
