REI TALAN 3.0 Telephone & Line Analyser

The REI TALAN 3.0 is a telephone and line analyser, it provides the operator with an advanced capability to test analogue, digital and VoIP telephone systems for any tampering or security vulnerabilities. The new updated TALAN 3.0 adds new hardware to enable the testing of twisted pairs against modern telecoms threats, including shield and ground. With a hardware change, the manufacturer, REI, can update older models of the TALAN to the TALAN 3.0.

Combining multiple testing capabilities into one piece of equipment, the REI TALAN 3.0 can handle a wide variety of telephone systems. The TALAN 3.0 can perform tests on all combinations of pairs with its internal automatic pair switching matrix and multi-test database, which stores historical data for comparison against other lines.

Network traffic is converted into a spectrum view, creating visually identifiable patterns that aren’t easily noticed in more traditional packet lists, this is done by the TALAN’s Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. Suspicious packet information is easier to identify and locate through the use of extensive and advanced VoIP traffic filtering.

The REI TALAN 3.0 can perform lots of different test functions, including multimeter tests such as current, voltage, resistance and capacitance. TALAN 3.0 also has a RF Broadband Detector (up to 8GHz) built in, as well as a spectrum analyser that covers up to 85 MHz. An audio Oscilloscope with an active input from 20 Hz to 20 KHz is also built into the TALAN 3.0 unit.

Functionality to detect electronics connected to a line is provided to the REI TALAN via the onboard Non-Linear Junction Detector (NLJD), and the TALAN can detect taps on the line through the Frequency Domain Reflectometer (FDR). To ensure that a telephone line isn’t passing audio, the TALAN can perform digital demodulation as well as having has a high gain audio amplifier and a bias generator.

Please Note: QCC Global Ltd only supplies accredited TSCM training services to Government, Military, Law Enforcement, CPNI & Commercial Partnership clients.
